Financing Development: The Privatization of Development Assistance

December 4–5, 2009

Recent trends show an increase in the privatization of development aid and a gap in academic literature and regulatory policy addressing private development aid. NYU School of Law’s Professor Kevin Davis and the Journal of International Law and Politics discussed these issues at a December 2009 conference at NYU School of Law.  The conference included discussions on regulatory models, informational gaps and the role of recipient governments.  Participants included scholars, practitioners and students.

The Journal of International Law and Politics published papers resulting from the conference in Volume 42:4.

I like the point that books don’t just reflect culture—they often preserve the small details that formal histories overlook. Reading across different eras can make everyday assumptions feel newly visible.
